The Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC), sometimes called the seafarers' Bill of Rights, sets out essential work and living standards for the 1.2 million seafarers worldwide. Coming into force in the UK in August 2014, the MLC replaced 68 outdated maritime labour standards and merged several International Labour Organisation (ILO) regulations.
